You had to know I'd pick Powderfinger. ;D Crowded House would've gotten my second vote.

Also a mention should go out to INXS - who should have been on the list, but they had to make way for the mighty Jason Donovan.
Apologies to Michael Huthence, only kidding, man! ;D

Exactly who is this Jason Donovan? I keep thinking of "See You in September". And Andrew Lloyd Webber. My Google fingers are itching.

Jason Donovan is a bit of a legend, no really! lol he was in the Aussie soap opera Neighbours with Kylie Minogue, when they both left the show they did a couple of songs together (and solo) - all of them sucked quite badly.
he then went onto a career as a coke addict.
until pepsi stepped in lol
no, seriously he had a serious problem with drugs.
he then starred in Joseph and the Technicolour Dream Coat - and did played the main role in Rocky Horror on stage in the theatres.
off topic: did my avatar thingy work?!

See? I was right about the Andrew Lloyd Webber connection! He was in Joseph!
I'm not sure he's the same Jason Donovan who did "Sealed with a Kiss" and "See You in September" though. I'll have to lok that up....

yes! sealed with a kiss!! "oh we've gotta say goodbye..... for the summer!"
god-awful song!
and I think something like "tears on my pillow" - with Kylie. urgh!
and Kylie songs, such as "I should be so lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky" and "do the locomotion with me!"
I'm getting palpitations just thinking about it!

LOL! I love "Sealed with a Kiss". It's so sweet! As for Kylie... I think I'll pass.

sweet? oh no! it's up there with Falco! and yeah, I'd pass on Kylie too - horrible woman! everyone (in Britain, at least) is obsessed with her rear end. which, in all fairness, is better than her face but there's no excuse...

Yo, leave my sweet Falco outta this. Didn't Justin Timberlake grab the aforementioned portion of Kylie's anatomy on British tv? Or was that someone else? Either way, he seems to be trying to set a trend, even if he's the only one following it. ;D

Of this lot, it would have to be The Go-Betweens, no contest - but no Chills? No Mutton Birds? Shame on you! :-)

I'm only now discovering the Go-Betweens. I'm so deprived in this place. *sniff*
How about the Living End? Too 'new'? A bit different from the typical sound, I'll admit -- more Angelic Upstarts than typical Aussie rock, from what I've heard -- but I liked their self-titled debut. Other than that I've only heard the song "Roll On", which I also like. I'm open to all suggestions and recommendations. Keep 'em coming!

a band that never gets the credit they deserve is the Apartments. peter milton walsh, the leader and only consistent member, used to be in the go-betweens in one of their earlier lineups.
the first apartments album 'the evening visits and stays for years' (rough trade) is a phenomenal record. he/they've released three full albums since but the first one is a genuine classic. 'cannot tell the days apart', 'mr. somewhere', 'all you wanted', 'the black road shines' -- almost all the songs for that matter are incredible. it remains one of my all-time favorite records. it is a very special album to me, and has been for years. if you are interested, all their albums have been reissued on Hot Records and are well worth the effort it might take to locate.
